Government
The City of Rosebud, Texas, operates under a city council structure. The council, consisting of a mayor and several council members, is responsible for making policies, passing ordinances, and overseeing the city’s overall functioning. The mayor presides over council meetings, representing the city at official functions, and sometimes having a vote on the council. The city manager is appointed to handle the city’s day-to-day operations, working under the city council’s direction. The city comprises departments such as public safety (police and fire), public works, parks and recreation, and others, each managed by appointed officials or department heads.
The Rosebud City Council is the community’s part-time legislative body, comprising six members and a mayor. All council members are elected through Ward elections on a non-partisan basis for a 2-year term. Council member terms are staggered to maintain continuity in transitioning from one Council to the next. Each Council Member is elected by voters of their Ward. The mayor is elected at-large directly by the voters and serves a 2-year term. The City Council meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 202 S. College St. Any person wishing to address the Council on agenda items must sign in before the meeting starts. Speakers are asked to keep their remarks to a limit of three minutes.
